Spin for a Diagnosis

A prize wheel with segments labeled Major Depression, Generalized Anxiety, and OCD on a hot pink background

Spoiler: it lands on Generalized Anxiety. It always lands on Generalized Anxiety.

We are thrilled to announce that Therapy is Funny has launched an exciting new feature: a fully interactive diagnostic wheel that allows users to skip the intake process entirely and receive their diagnosis in under four seconds.

We believe this represents the future of mental health assessment. Or at minimum, a significant time savings for everyone involved.

How It Works

The wheel currently features three carefully curated diagnostic options: Major Depression, Generalized Anxiety, and OCD. Each appears multiple times, which our development team assures us is intentional and reflects real-world base rates with remarkable accuracy.

The user clicks spin. The wheel spins. A diagnosis is delivered. The user sits with it for a moment. The user recognizes something uncomfortably familiar. The user closes the tab and calls their actual therapist.

This is, in our view, a therapeutic outcome.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is this clinically valid? No. It is not. We want to be very clear about this. The wheel does not know you. The wheel has not reviewed your history. The wheel cannot distinguish between a bad week and a mood disorder. Please do not bring your wheel result to your next appointment as supporting documentation.
  • What if I spin and get OCD but I think I have depression?Spin again. This is not how diagnosis works. This is also not how OCD works, which the wheel cannot explain to you but your therapist can.
  • What if I spin and the result feels accurate? That is worth exploring. With a professional. Not with us. We made a wheel.
  • Why are there only three options? We started with the most common presentations and ran out of wheel space. Future versions may include ADHD, which we would have added already but kept getting distracted.
  • Can I use this instead of therapy? You cannot. We are a humor website. Our diagnostic wheel is not covered by insurance, cannot prescribe medication, and will not remember what you said last week. Neither will it ask how that makes you feel, which is either a feature or a limitation depending on where you are in your journey.

A Note on the Color Scheme

The wheel is red, blue, and yellow on a hot pink background. This was a deliberate design choice intended to communicate urgency, energy, and the general feeling of a mental health system that is doing its best under difficult circumstances.

It also looks extremely fun, which we feel is appropriate for a tool that is not, under any circumstances, to be used for actual diagnosis.

Try It Now

The wheel is live. Head over to Helpful Tools and give it a spin. Results are immediate, humorous, and not covered by insurance.

You can also try our diagnosis dropdown, which is also not clinically valid but does have a dropdown menu, which feels more official.

Therapy is Funny is a humor website. The diagnostic wheel is satire. If you are experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, OCD, or anything else that is making life harder than it needs to be, please reach out to a licensed mental health professional. They have better tools than a wheel. Probably.
